Technical Director

Paul has over 16 years of experience working as a geoscientist in the E&P industry with a proven track record of successful exploration across mature and frontier basins globally.  Most recently with Glencore, he has been working on subsurface evaluation and planning of exploration drilling campaigns in Sub-Saharan Africa.  Across Glencore’s Chad assets he interpreted seismic, integrated geological data, evaluated prospects and managed the prospect portfolio, and in Cameroon oversaw the subsurface technical work for the Oak field development.  Prior to this, he worked for RWE Dea in their Norwegian office on exploration projects in the North Sea, Norwegian Sea and Barents Sea, most notably the Dvalin discovery.  Paul’s career began as a consultant with Scott Pickford (later becoming ECL and then RPS) in 2003 working on a wide variety of projects including equity redeterminations, exploration and asset valuations.  Through his career working for both operator and consultancy companies, he has developed a deep level of technical expertise and a thorough understanding of the E&P business.

Paul attained a 1st Class Honours degree in Geophysical Sciences from the University of Southampton before studying for an MSc with distinction in Applied Geophysics and a PhD on the crustal structure of the Equatorial Guinea transform margin, both at the University of Birmingham.
